Why choose Angular for your web application in 2024

Angular: the robust choice

Angular is a complete framework developed and maintained by Google. Unlike a simple library, it provides everything a team needs to build a large-scale web application: routing, forms, dependency injection, HTTP and testing tools, all in a coherent, strongly-typed TypeScript framework. For projects built to last and evolve, that coherence makes all the difference.

When is Angular the right choice?

Angular shines on rich, structured applications: back offices, dashboards, SaaS platforms and multi-portal systems. At Digi4 we use it for projects such as Médiviz (medical CRM), Doctifile (virtual waiting room) and Residapp (residence management), where reliability and maintainability matter more than raw time-to-market.

Angular versus React and Vue

The question always comes up: why Angular instead of React or Vue? All three are excellent choices, but they solve different problems. React and Vue are UI libraries: quick to start with, flexible, but they leave it to the team to assemble routing, state management and form tooling. Angular is a complete framework: those building blocks are provided, standardized and designed to work together. For a landing page or a prototype, React/Vue's flexibility is an asset. For an enterprise application that will live for years with developers coming and going, the structure Angular imposes reduces arbitrary decisions and makes it easier for new team members to get up to speed.

Everyday strengths

Strict typing catches errors before runtime, the module/component architecture encourages reuse, and the official ecosystem (CLI, Router, Forms) avoids piling up heterogeneous third-party dependencies. Angular also ships native server-side rendering (SSR), a real asset for the SEO of public sites.

Performance and SEO with SSR

Angular's server-side rendering (Angular Universal, natively built in since Angular 17) lets a search engine index the page's actual content, not an empty shell waiting for JavaScript. For a public site — showcase, blog, portfolio — that's often the difference between good and poor organic search visibility. Combined with the incremental hydration in recent releases, Angular's SSR also helps improve Core Web Vitals (LCP, blocking time), which weigh directly on Google rankings and on the mobile user experience.

Its limits: when to avoid it

Angular has a steeper learning curve than lighter alternatives. For a simple landing page or a static showcase site it is often oversized — a WordPress site or a lighter stack ships faster. The right tool always depends on the real need.

Angular in 2024-2025

Recent versions modernized the framework in depth: standalone components, the new control-flow syntax (@if / @for), signals for finer reactivity and better performance. Angular remains a forward-looking choice, not a legacy one.
